Perry Miniatures Bills and Flat Pavises

Beyond their magnificient plastic kits for the Hundred Years War, Perry Miniatures also proposes a variety of metal miniatures and accessories which are, I believe, only accessible through their website.

For my first purchase I tried EA10 Flat pavises (24 in pack) and WR21 Bills (36 in pack).

The flat pavises are from the European Armies range which covers the second half of the 15th century. Some plastic pavises are already available in the French Infantry box of the hundred years war which contains 6 in total  as well as in the European Mercenaries box which contains 12. Unless you have a lot of spare plastic pavises that you did not use in past projects you will rapidly need to buy some extra separately, like I did. I have bought until now four boxes of French Infantry for a total of 24 flat plastic pavises but it was not enough for my project.

As you can see below the metal pavises are considerably smaller than those contained in the French Infantry box. The back and front have no texture but contrary to the plastic ones they have straps sculpted and small pointy thing at the bottom used to hold the pavise to the ground more firmly. The front face of the pavise is not perfectly falt and irregular which bothers me a bit. The plastic one is far better, no doubt
On the left the plastic pavise available in the AO 50 Agincourt French Infantry 1415-29 box and on the right the white metal EA10 Flat pavises.

The white metal bills are from the War of the Roses series. They are quite shorter than the spears of the French Infantry box spear and need a bit of work to remove mould lines. Being whitemetal, they bend easily too. One originality : some shaft are square and other are round. It will go unnoticed on the batteflied but it shows how perfectionnist the Perry brothers are. A nice touch to bring diversity in your army for there are probably better solutions out there (maybe 3D printed?).
